Seasonal Hair Color

Seasonal Color Analysis
for Women of Color

"How to Find Your Color Palette No Matter Ethnicity"

Female celebrities of color and different races

The seasonal color analysis can be a frustrating thing, right? I mean, like whenever you take a seasonal color analysis, you get "trapped" in either Winter or Autumn, and you just know it isn't right. The seasonal color analysis can be frustrating when your coloring doesn't seem to match with any of the typical colorings presented in this color system. If you have a softer and/or lighter coloring then the Deep Winter and Deep Autumn color palettes may look harsh on your complexion.
So where do you belong? I mean, women of color can't possibly fall within Deep Winter and Deep Autumn, only. Despite the general notion that there is a lack of coloring variations among women of color, that is not always the case with ethnic women with lighter characteristics.
4 main seasonal color analysis seasons
Carole Jackson has admitted that the Color Me Beautiful-system isn't perfect and that women of color may have problems identifying their real color season. And because of this issue, she decided to revise her book - with a new refined seasonal color system, dividing each season into 3 groups depending on the intensity of your coloring. Which goes like this: light - dark, clear - muted, warm – cool. This is explained in the color theory section of this site.

Analyze Yourself in Relation to Your Ethnicity

So if you're a woman of color and struggle to find your color palette then you should base your search on the quality of your hair, skin and eyes, relative to your ethnicity, and not the typical Caucasian coloring. That's because a light African-American will typically appear darker than the Caucasian with the same color palette even though they share a similar intensity in their coloring.
For example, if you have lighter eyes, skin or hair color than what's typical in your ethnicity then you can actually be a Summer or Spring, and not just Autumn or Winter.

African-american light medium dark

Light: Rashida Jones has sparkly green eyes, light olive skin and light brown hair, which are all characteristics of a Soft Summer or Soft Autumn - which basically means she's neither light or dark. I have yet to find ethnic celebrities with blonde hair and blue eyes :) People with an albino skin disease would most likely be a light. This means that some of the lightest ethnic women fall on Clear or Soft, not Light. However, if you are ethnic with a Soft coloring, you can dye your hair blonde and wear the Light color palette.

Medium: Beyonce has a light caramel skin tone, sparkly brown eyes and a lighter shade of brown hair - which make her a Warm Spring or Warm Autumn.
In some cases, Warm Spring/Autumn women who dye their hair lighter can wear some of the Clear colors.

Deep: Dark brown eyes and black to dark brown hair are strong indicators that you're a Deep. Skin tone can be anywhere from the fairest white to deep ebony. And supermodel Alek Wek has clearly a very deep coloring with the Deep characteristics.

Now let's take a closer look at examples of how it's possible to not be a Deep Autumn or Deep Winter despite being a woman of color:

Beyoncés Coloring

Many image consultants have diagnosed her as Deep Autumn. I'm not too sure about that though...

Beyonce is a clear spring

Here is a comparison of her wearing a typical deep Autumn green and a typical bright Spring green:

Beyonce wearing autumn green and spring green

I like how the bright green enhanced her sparkly brown eyes, compared to the forest green which makes her look a bit muddy. My conclusion is that she is a Warm Spring, but she may flow into Warm Autumn as well. To be honest, I haven't completely honed her color palette - because she seems to look good in some Clear colors because of her sparkly honey brown eyes. But I would say that Warm is her dominant characteristic.

Here's another example of her wearing a 'bad' color. See how Beyoncé appears slightly drab in black, while her sister who is darker (dark brown eyes, darker hair and skin – Deep Autumn flowing into Deep Winter) looks divine in it? The clear red lipstick saved Beyoncé there :-)

Here's an example of her wearing black - which is a Deep Autumn's and Winter gals *power* color:

Beyonce in black

Beyoncé is looking pale in black and this is an indicators that she's a lighter Autumn or a Spring, as Deep Autumns usually look great in black.

Rihanna

Rihanna has light green-hazel eyes, caramel skin tone and ashy dark brown hair - which makes her a mix of light and dark, cool and warm.

Rihanna is a soft summer

She's a Soft. I'm still not quite sure whether she's a dominant Summer or Autumn, because she looks equally good in both color palettes. She could also be a Soft only. She seems to pull off both cool and warm colors - a typical tell-tale that she's a Soft-Muted because of her coloring's neutrality. Grays, raspberry and pinks look amazing on her and bring out the sparkle in her light hazel eyes. Greens blend well with her warm skin tone. Deep Autumn/Winter colors, on the other hand, like bright yellow and royal blue, look way off on her.

Here are some examples:

Rihanna is a soft summer

She's gorgeous but black isn't really her best color despite her dark complexion at first glance. I hate to say this, but dying her her black wasn't her smartest move.

Where does Brazilian wax come from?

Where does Brazilian Wax come from?

Brazilian waxing originates in Brazil, hence the name Brazilian wax. This method of hair removal became more popular as the skimpier bikinis trend reached the Brazilian women. The first form of Brazilian wax hair removal did not actually involve the use of wax. A sugary paste was used to perform the task. Today, this is known as sugaring and is the preferred method for bikini waxing. Especially when opting for the Brazilian or French wax, as these areas are extremely tender and sensitive to harsher treatment.

Twitter reaction praised Keys' rendition of the song although some were critical of the length of the tune.
Keys, 32, has won 14 Grammy Awards and a multi-platinum selling artist.
Many accomplished musicians have sung the national anthem before the Super Bowl. For the past five Super Bowls, female artists have been the norm with Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson signing the song. Beyonce will perform the halftime show at Super Bowl XLVII.

Although her ability to sing live was briefly in question, Beyonce's hair most definitely is NOT.

At a press conference for the Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show where Beyonce is set to perform, the diva proved she's anything but a fraud. The 31-year-old singer belted out an a cappella version of the National Anthem to prove she can bring it. This comes after a controversial performance to a pre-recorded version of the National Anthem Beyonce sang to during the Presidential Inauguration for Barack Obama's second term.

We already knew Beyonce could rock a mic, but we had no idea she could rock a side part quite like this. Her massive side part started on the singers left side only a few inches above her ear and went all the way across her head, and finally led into a glorious cascade of curls.

Let's take a closer look.

INDIAN HAIR VS. BRAZILIAN HAIR/EUROPEAN HAIR (FACTS)

100% Human Brazilian Hair? it must be of good quality? Fact is this is WRONG!!!

Are you looking for high quality Remy hair that will look good and last a long time? Some companies will have you believe the hype about hair particularly Brazilian hair and European types.

YOU HAVE TO THINK HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THOSE COUNTRIES GROW HAIR AND SELL AND WHY?.

In India there are rituals behind why there is enough hair to supply in the industry. Its not that Brazilian hair does not exist, it does because we sell it, but the likely hood of getting what you pay for from individuals or companies selling the same is low.

Brazilian women would be hard pressed to part with there hair so there is not a lot on the market today. Most likely the average consumer will never see any of it at all. The same holds true for hair bought in Brazil cities, is it really virgin hair? The women that go to salons colour there hair, use hot combs and blow dryers that damage the hair thus making it unmarketable.

BRAZILIAN HAIR IS ASIAN AND INDIAN HAIR that is PROCESSED IN BRAZIL.

Virgin Brazilian Remy Hair Body Wave Grade AAA 300g 20",22",24" Its not Brazilian peoples hair as it is very hard to find even in Brazil!!!It could have been virgin hair that was processed to get the body wave.

We sell hair to companies in Brazil and China for wig making and for processing into there 'respective hairs'. Beware there are lots of impostors out there ready to take your money and sell you inferior hair at inflated prices except no substitutes.

When hair is sold as 100% Human, be very cautious as this could mean a number of things. It is usually Asian/Indian hair where the original natural black/very dark brown is required. When this hair is coloured it takes on the consistency of straw and as for blonde? Forget it! Never expect to get much time from this quality hair.

ALSO, CAUTION SHOULD BE APPLIED WHEN USING SO-CALLED 'EUROPEAN' QUALITY HAIR. Invariably, this is NOT 'European' hair; it is hair that has been processed to look like European hair.

It is usually Asian/Indian hair and as stated before, will not last very long. To begin with the hair looks nice; but it has been coated with silicon to add shine and body to the hair. However, after a few washes the silicon layer starts to wash out. Then quickly the hair becomes duller and loses its sheen. It becomes brittle and dry. It starts to break down.

The cuticle originally covered by the silicon will become exposed which causes tangling and matting with your own hair. Every wash will worsen this condition. What you are then left with is acid treated Asian/Indian hair. Good luck ladies!

I just look at the hair on these women, okay and wacth it to!! (Love and Hip Hop)

I honestly don't know what to think about Love & Hip Hop. The last episode begins with Olivia Longott meeting Erica Mena so Erica can apologize (is that what she's attempting?) for her behavior at Yandy's party the following evening. She hadn't planned on being so confrontational. Of course, then Erica starts going off on Liv for not doing a favor for Rich Dollaz and making the record with her. Erica is sick of watching Rich do everything for Olivia when she gives him nothing in return…nothing but a paycheck! Does Erica understand what it means to be a manager? She then starts warning Liv that her friendship with Rich is faltering, but Olivia assures Erica that they've been best friends for years, and that isn't going to change. Huffy that she can't change Olivia's mind about the song by just trying to talk over her, Erica storms away. So much for that apology, right?

Jen Bayer heads into the studio to visit with her friend Raqi Thunda. Raqi is Muslim, and she would like to get a woman's perspective on Consequence's religion. Jen has considered converting, but she wants their son to be able to experience Christmas and Easter. Raqi is flabbergasted that the pair didn't discuss their religious differences before having a child together, and Jen is in tears over the thought that she'll never bake Christmas cookies with Caden.

Tahiry Jose isn't convinced that Joe Budden has stopped relapsing. She thinks he's still using. They meet at church, and Joe is dressed like Professor Lasky from Saved By the Bell: The College Years. She encourages him to see a drug counselor, but he says he doesn't need one. Joe now claims that he's clean, and he refuses to speak to anyone…in fact, he thinks that now Tahiry's concern is just an excuse so that she can stay in his life. Give me a break. I am so sick of his manipulative ways.

Cons wants to hear about Jen's conversation with Raqi. He needs her to immerse herself in Islam. Cons requires a Muslim household, and he thinks Jen is spoiled…at least he doesn't cheat on her. What? She's floored. She's a lucky girl because her boyfriend is faithful? Jen finally agrees to speak to one of Cons mentors who could potentially make her religious transition easier.

Liv and Rich are reliving their knock-down-drag-out over Erica and the record, and Olivia wants to know why Erica thinks it's alright to be in her and Rich's business relationship. Rich reminds Olivia that Erica is a novice who is sometimes unfiltered and street. He is asking her to perform with Erica as a personal favor. Olivia still refuses…things with Erica aren't personal for her, and she doesn't want Rich mixing his personal life with their business relationship.

We finally see Yandy Smith and Mendeecees (although I am having a hard time given what someone said in the comments last week about him being an alleged child molester), and they are going through a difficult time with baby Amir. After getting back some test results, Yandy leaves Amir with her mother, and she and Mendeecees head to the hospital to speak with a doctor. Amir has an obstruction that is causing issues with his kidneys, and he is going to require surgery. Yandy is scared and heartbroken, and she's not sure if she wants her new baby undergoing surgery.

Jen and Cons are meeting with his spiritual advisor at his Mosque. Jen gets teary pleading her case, but Cons is worried that mixing Islam and Christianity will confuse Caden. The advisor informs Cons that he need not be so rigid, and he advises the couple to get married. Jen is thrilled at the prospect of hiding Easter eggs.

lhh5

Amir is in surgery, and Yandy is beside herself with worry. Mendeecees does a good job off talking her down off the ledge. These women have low expectations…Yandy thanks Mendeecees for coming with her to the hospital. Excuse me, but where else would he be? He needs to pull up his britches.

Raqi and Jen are having a girls' night at a local club, and Jen is excited to be out on the town. While Raqi gets a drink, Tahiry heads over to catch up with Jen. She introduces Jen to Rashidah Ali, and then the eye rolling commences when Raqi returns. Rashidah is excited to finally meet the girl who is sleeping her way through the record business. She asks Raqi about deejaying, and Raqi starts talking smack about Tahiry. Both Rashidah and Jen urge the ladies to stand down and for a hot second I think the women are going to be able to be civil. Poor Jen is way out of her element. Rashidah then calls out Raqi for working her way through the industry on her back. Hurling insults, Raqi walks off, with poor Jen running after her in disbelief. Perhaps she's as confused as I am about Tahiry's outfit.

lhh2

Yandy is overjoyed when Amir's surgery is a success. Both she and Mendeecees believe that their prayers have been answered. He wants to celebrate by getting Yandy pregnant with a baby girl. Creepy. Thankfully, Yandy isn't planning on having any more kids with Mendeecees out of wedlock, so he needs to step up to the plate. He assures her that he's got that under control.

The following day, Jen and Raqi are breaking down the previous evening's events. Raqi is glad that Jen had her back when she didn't necessarily have to follow her out of the club. I think that she actually just needed a ride home! Raqi knows all about Rashidah and her credit card scams and face-cutting ways. What? Who ARE these people? She also pitches an idea for a radio show to Jen. Jen is elated. She has been wanting to get back on the air…although Cons has gotten quite used to her staying home.

Tahiry ambushes Joe, and he's not happy to see her until she reveals that she's brought him a present. When unwraps a drug test, he refuses to take it–he's not on drugs. Tahiry warns him that if he doesn't take it, she won't be there as his support system anymore. Joe finally agrees if Tahiry will cook for him. They come to a deal where she will cook two dinners and a dessert for him if he'll just pee in the cup. The test is negative, although Tahiry is a little concerned about how hard it is to see the pink lines that render it negative.

lhh4

Rich has booked some studio time with a quality producer that he knows can bring out the best in Erica. As she arrives, he receives a phone call from said producer who is now refusing to work with Erica after she told him at a club that she didn't like his records. Rich is starting to think that maybe Olivia is right about Erica. He wants her to learn how to keep her mouth shut. Erica then turns it around and says that it's all Rich's fault for booking the producer so late in the game. She storms off yet again, and Rich tells her to enjoy her career.

Next week, Erica begs Rich to get her on another record, and Yandy tells Rich that he's playing wirh fire by dealing with Erica. He asks her to have a chat with Erica to see how he should proceed. Tahiry cooks for Joe, and Erica has Yandy feeling sorry for her. Jen and Raqi get into it over their radio show.
